Hello there, We’re glad you’re here!

We are the Friendly City Players (formerly Valley Playhouse)

We believe that it takes a community to make great theatre, and making great theatre builds community.

The Friendly City Players community is made up of artists from all levels of experience who want to tell compelling stories, explore new ideas, develop skills, learn from one another, and seek joy. We believe that live theatre is celebratory by nature, and we approach our work with a sense of play.

Our mission is to create space and opportunity for theatre makers and theatre lovers throughout the Shenandoah Valley to come together in pursuit of artistic expression and collaboration, and to make every FCP production an enriching experience for our artists and our audiences alike.

Come play with us!

OUR Season of “Hope”

Spring ‘24: Peter and the Starcatcher

March 14-17 and March 21-24, 2024

  • “From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores the depths of greed and despair... and the bonds of friendship, duty and love.

A young orphan and his mates are shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captain’s cabin, which contains a precious, otherworldly cargo. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly, a Starcatcher-in-training who realizes that the trunk’s precious cargo is starstuff, a celestial substance so powerful that it must never fall into the wrong hands. When the ship is taken over by pirates – led by the fearsome Black Stache, a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own – the journey quickly becomes a thrilling adventure.”

Through special arrangement with Musical Theater International.

It means I am part of a whole more awesome than the individuals who make up that whole could ever be on their own! It means finding a place, both physical and emotional, where we can all be fully human.
